Is it necessary to have an IELTS or TOEFL score for admission to a foreign university?

Most International programs require proof that the candidate can understand, communicate, and carry out academic work in the language it is being taught. 

IELTS is globally accepted for programs taught in the English language, whereas TOEFL is only accepted in the USA. However, some universities make an exemption if students can showcase that they have received their previous education in English and have a demonstrated ability to meet the academic requirements in the said language.

Which financial documents are required to get admission abroad?

Students have to demonstrate that they can manage their personal and educational expenses if accepted. 

These include:

  • Bank Statement 
  • Sponsorship Affidavit (if being sponsored by a relative in the country of admission)
  • Scholarship Letter (if awarded)
How to choose a country and university for international education?

Consider factors like your academic profile, language proficiency score, budget, career goals, quality of courses offered, support for international students, and student visa acceptance rate of the said countries/universities/colleges.

When is a good time to start applying for foreign universities/colleges?

Check dates for your desired international higher education institute for fall and summer intakes. International student applications, however, close well before the local applications. Students are advised to start the application process a year in advance.

What is the cost of studying abroad?

It varies depending on the country, program, and institute. Typical expenses include tuition and accommodation, travel, and health insurance. You may apply for full or partial scholarships, teaching assistance positions, or other options to manage costs.

Do international universities/ colleges offer scholarships for Pakistani students?

Yes, you can explore several international scholarships, including the ones offered by governments, research institutes, international organizations, or universities. Depending on the scholarship, you will still have to bear several associated costs for securing admission, traveling, and lodging.

Are international students allowed to work abroad?

Yes, depending on the country and type of visa, international students can work part-time while pursuing their studies. However, you have to be very mindful of the number of hours, type of work, and other restrictions placed by the visa and the scholarship (if you are getting any). 

What are my options for accommodation abroad as an international student?

Most universities offer on-site, subsidized campus accommodation, however, these can be highly competitive and may involve long wait lists. Other options you may explore include finding shared accommodation with fellow students or seeking help from relevant university officials. 

It is essential to have a living arrangement before arriving in the country.
